For 28 years, the Maryland Sister States Program has promoted international understanding and cooperation through ten sister state relationships on five continents.  With the support of the Sister States program, Maryland companies have gained access to world markets, and, many successful cross-cultural activities have been introduced in both Maryland and its sister states.

The Secretary of State of Maryland is Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Sister States Program, which is run for the State of Maryland and its citizens.
